I can only say good things about my stay at Giuseppe's. The appartment is very close to the bus station, old city centre, market and grocery store. You also have a nice balcony with a view of mount Etna, a bit of seaside and a sunset. I've had a very pleasant stay at Catania because of the company of Giuseppe, who waited for me at the station, walked the city with me and explained some things about the life in Catania and Sicily, about monuments, how to navigate myself around the city, how to get to Etna, when and where the buses drive... It was also a nice change, that I could talk to someone in english language, cause Giuseppe talks english perfectly. So, thanks to Giuseppe, I had a really nice time in Catania.

Giuseppe is a great host and the appartment is the same great! Very well located, very clean and spacious. Actually perfect for a holiday stay! Giuseppe is always helpful and on the first day showed us the whole neighbourhood - what where to buy etc. and even before the arrival he answered all our questions and gave many advice! I highy recommend it!

Just one word: WONDERFUL The location of the apartment is no doubt the best, it is so close to the main bus station, we can basically go to everywhere in Sicily. There is a big & cheap supermarket about 10mn walk from the building. The apartment itself has everything one can think of to serve our need, from kitchen tools to washing machine. Since we came in the summer, 2 air-conditioners are absolutely indispensable. The washing machine is a big help too because all our clothes were drenched with sweat & we didn't bring much enough clothes. Giuseppe was very helpful and kind, we couldn't find the house & he came to pick us up. He also showed us carefully all the bus lines we needed, helped us with the ticket purchase & answered all of our questions regarding Sicily. A sterling host! All and all, we definitely recommend the flat to everyone.

Giuseppe is a warm, friendly and relaxed host who really welcomed us into his home. He not only picked us up from the airport, but also gave us a walking tour of Catania on our first day, sharing with us an insider's knowledge of the city. His apartment is very clean, quiet and the bedroom is very spacious, with a wonderful view of Mount Etna from the balcony. We would certainly recommend a stay here. Giuseppe is an excellent, genuine host and hopefully our paths will cross again some day.

We spent our 12 days holidays at Giuseppe's apartment. Giuseppe picked us from the bus stop giving very helpful pieces of information on how to best arrive / find our way. Not only that - he also gave us a walk around Catania. It really helped us first to find our way around the city. In addition he gave is cool tips for shopping in the local market, etc. That was really really great! Re the apartment - everything was as described. The apartment is located very well when it comes to travelling (close to the bus station). It has really great view over the Etna. It has a great kitchen fully equipped, which was very good since we cooked a lot. Over all we do really recommend the place to everyone interested! Giuseppe - thanks a lot! The holidays were great!!!
Giuseppe is a wonderful host. He met me at the train station when I arrived. His home is very clean and comfortable. He was so kind and helpful. He showed me around Catania and made sure I had everything I needed. We talked about the history of Sicily and Catania. My room was very comfortable, clean and quite. I had my space to do my own thing but he was accessible if I needed anything. I had access to the entire house and was able to store some food in the kitchen. I really enjoyed my time with Giuseppe and in Catania. He has a beautiful home and I would highly recommend booking with him.
Just Great! This is the kind of experience that makes you love getting around at others'house! It is mainly due to Giuseppe who is an awesome guy for who hospitality is part of his personality. Together we visited the area (where it was not planned at all) and through his explanations he made me travel in the past, explaining me that the landscapes were born at the age of Ulysse! Believe me, unforgettable!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 6 OUT OF 5 STARS. Guiseppe is one of the sweetest, friendliest kindest, most sincere (male) hosts i've encountered to date--and that's about 30+ stays. if you have chosen catania as a stop this is your bnb spot. 10 minute direct point to point walk from station that you simply can't get lost doing--especially if you are lucky to have your gracious host scoop you up from the train (and take your luggage ;-). 5 minutes if you walk fast to avoid catcalls from the locals ;-). 15-20 minute to walk to centro *donnas wear flats or wedges cause stilettos and even tame heels will do you no justice on the cobblestone, though the local girls seem to have it down pat*. the 6th (top) floor with life apartment is conveniently located across from a small grocer/market/butcher/wine shop, a block or two from a very inexpensive toiletries shop and a chinatown market of sorts, and for those of you commercial travelers there's an americano disco on the corner--also open 24 hours!!!! the apartment gives you both mt etna (to the west) and sea (to the east) views. real life in la casa looks no different than the pics, and since this website doesn't use scratch and sniff, you just can't appreciate the yummy kitchen aromas no matter whom is at the stove. everything you need to cook with is there as well. big picture windows with a glass terrace door in "my" bedroom and great shades for sleeping in the HUGE bed. pretty view of the city and terracotta barrel roofs as well. heater/ac units in the rooms.. bathroom is spacious and super clean (especially for a man's apt ;-) with a half glass a rainfall spa-like shower that is easy to use every last drop of hot water with such great water pressure (*note to self* careful there :-). the living room is comfy and cozy too though we didn't spend much time there. just stay with giuseppe and be done with it. renee

Guiseppe has been the best host you could ever imagine. No matter what you're into or what you'd like to see or experience - he always has the best ideas. Thanks for the good times, the great meals and wine, it was a real pleasure for me. I couldn't image a better host than you, dear Guiseppe! Hope to see you again!
Your Apartment in Piazza Palestro, Catania
L'appartamento è ubicato in Piazza Palestro, piazza
I will support my guests with
useful information about what to do in Cantania and how can enjoy to the
fullest their stay in my town.
The neighbourhood is well
known as Piazza Palestro. It is connected to the train station by a bus. Put on
some comfortable shoes and enjoy the real Catanese life, its street food,
booths, local markets, inhabitants, take a long breath and ask yourself why
tourists come back again.
Local buses connect Piazza
Palestro, where the apartment is, to the train station and via Etnea

I propose two independent apartments near the sea:
Apt # 1 Halfway between Taormina and Noto
Apt # 2 Your cozy retreat near the sea-side
They are both in a Villa with a nice garden, which is a little green oasis.
Depending on the season you arrive, you can pick lemons, oranges, tangerins, plums, cakies, peaches, figs, prunes, olives, beans, tomatoes, egg-plants, chilli, medlars and annonas. There are also some cactees, spices and a fish pond with gold fish, frogs and turtles!
If you come and visit us, on week-ends', you might expect to join us for lunch or dinner and learn how to cook some Sicilian typical food.
You are welcome to relax downstairs in the common area.
The sea-side can be reached through a tunnel on foot and it is about 800 meters from the apartments.
The coastline is mainly black lava pebble rocks, but, the sandy beaches are okay and about 2 km away by car.
I will leave you some food, such as pasta, olive oil, sugar and salt, cleaning staff, coffee, milk and bisquits and hommade marmalade for breakfast. But, if you want to experience typical Sicilian breakfast, then, go to the Esso service station across the street, where you can have granita di gelsi and mandorla with brioche.
You definitively need a car for your endependency, although there is Scionti bus connecting Costa Saracena to Augusta and Catania.
Supermarkets are in Augusta (10 km) and Lentini (13 Km), but restaurants are in the area. Siracusa (43 km); Catania (33 km); Taormina (95 km); Noto (96 km).

Located close to the sea, Giuseppe's apartment is the right spot to discover the beauty of eastern Sicily. The terrace offers a magnificent view on the coastline and Etna and you can easily relax in the beautiful garden. The apartment is quiet, comfortable and fuly equiped. Giuseppe has a very charming personality and he was so kind to show us the nice beaches and inform us about the highlights of baroque Sicily. We enjoyed our stay very much.

I had a perfect stay at Giuseppe's place. Really, this is an ideal place to be when you are traveling nearby Catania.. The apartment is large and clean, with a beautiful terrace with view on the sea and Mount Etna.. I do not think that someone can event want more :) Giuseppe himself is a very nice guy that was doing all he can to make my stay pleasant. In which he was very successful :) Picking me up when I came, giving me tips what to see and even showing me Catania with a great restaurant.. All in all, I really recommend this stay and - Giuseppe, thanks a lot!
Katharina L. (Austria)
First of all, Giuseppe is a very kind host. He picked us up and showed us the way to his beach house. When we arrived there he showed us around and told us, where the best beaches are. One of the days we stayed there, he also invited us to Catania, where he showed the city to us and cooked a real good meal for us. Secondly the house is very nice. You have a lot of space there and the beach is really near. Guiseppe partents are really nice too - they provided us with every food you could imagine and we had really nice chats with them. If you are going to Sicily and want to have a really nice and calm stay, we definitely recommend to stay there. Thanks for everything!
Apt.#2 Your cozy retreat near the sea-side
It is a 95 square meter attic (5/6 persons)

Four large windows overlook the Etna and the gulf of Catania.
The bath-room is spacious, nice and clean and it has a large mirror, a bidet, a bathtub, a shower and a window. The curtin shower is new. Fresh towels and shower gel provided.
The sitting-room is very large and includes the stone kitchen. It has two couches and a coffee table, a LG TVSat , DVD player, a woodstove, a rocking chair, a corner bar, a table and four chairs, national geographic magazines, aircondition and four large windows overlooking the gulf of Catania and the volcano Etna.
Petralia Sottana, Park of Madonie
In Petralia Sottana, about one hour drive from Palermo, in the natural park of Madonie, I can offer you an ancient, but renovated typical Sicilian farm house. Unique in its genre, it was partially built on a carved rock mountain side, about 100 years ago.
It is about 65 square meters on three floors and 4 people can be easily put up. It is composed of one bed-room with twin beds and Sicilian barocco furniture. The kitchen is on the second floor and it has a balcony with a nice view on the old roofs, a TV with international channels and a sofa bed. The small bath-room is on the ground floor and it has a shower.
In few words, the house is a museum itself and you will be intrigued by what was the hard life, the daily life of a family of the eighteenth century engaged in perpetual cycle of farming production.
In spring and summertime, the house is cool and you can enjoy eating out on the terrace overlooking the amazing view on the hills and valleys. In winter, the house is warm and very cozy and romantic because of the two woodstove heaters.
Shops and little markets are in a walk distance.
If you want to stay away from the crowd of city night life and enjoy some educational activities for your kids, or skiing, climbing or a walk tour in the wilderness, this is your place.
